Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical office. One year of medical insurance and billing experience required.
Schedule is Monday through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM, NO WEEKENDS!!

Key Responsibilities:
• Verify insurance eligibility for patients on a daily basis.
• Obtain insurance coverage/authorizations for each patient scheduled for a procedure.
• Answer patient calls regarding their billing and cost estimate letter/coding.
• Be a resource person for all staff, providers and patients regarding insurance and billing.
• Obtain pre certifications and prior authorizations for procedures and physician ordered tests (Capsule Endoscopy, MRI, CT, ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
• Enter and update demographic and insurance information into billing system.
• Review hospital charges for completion and accuracy and submit to EBS.
• Work directly with EBS staff to clarify billing and patient questions.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
• Shows respect, courtesy and advocacy in all dealings with all people, including, but not limited to patients, coworkers, and visitors.
• Displays a positive attitude, and team-oriented spirit, indicated by a willingness to assist where and whenever needed; including check in/out and scheduling and answering calls.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Writes legibly and with correct grammar and sentence structure.
• Email prep instructions
• Prepare and mail patients cost estimate letter 2 weeks prior to procedure date.
• Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and maintains security of Protected Health Information (PHI) and business information.
• Does not exhibit, divulge, copy or remove the contents of any record or report except to fulfill work assignments.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of healthcare policies, procedures, systems. Knowledge of insurance and billing practices. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type from draft copy. Review and edit reports and correspondence. Skill in computer applications. Skill in verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate and explain billing practices to patients. Ability to work effectively with staff, patients, external agencies. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
Education: High School Diploma.
Experience: 2 years experience in a medical office. One year of medical insurance and billing experience.
Certificate/License: None
ALTERNATIVE TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience.
