Hourly Rate Range: $34.16 - $49.47 Dependent on Experience

The Registered Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative from the Registered Ultrasound Technologist.   

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams as ordered by providers in accordance with organization protocols.
  • Uses the appropriate transducer on the body part presented for exam to obtain quality diagnostic images.
  • Ensures that all transducers are properly disinfected as per manufacturer’s recommendations. 
  • Properly identifies patient by asking name, date of birth, reason for visit. 
  • Ensures that the correct patient / body part is scanned. 
  • Ensures that the correct patient information is entered into the various computer programs that record the procedure. 
  • Completes the exam on the Radiology Software System provided and transmits the exam to the Radiologist for reading. 
  • Provides a work environment safe and free from hazards; immediately address or inform management of safety issues or potential hazards; adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures; participate in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
  • Utilizes the PACS work list to expedite the ultrasound procedure. 
  • Explains the procedure to the patient and answers patient’s questions. 
  • Maintains exceptional level of customer service; address and resolve complaints; serve as an example by providing excellent service to internal and external customers, employees, and patients. 
  • Demonstrates and models El Rio Health Standards in all interactions with patients, co-workers, and visitors. 
  • Demonstrates service excellence using AIDET principles consistently applied with all patients, community members, co-workers, and colleagues. 
  • Annually reviews job description and performance goals with Radiology Manager. 
  • Embraces and promotes a professional working environment based on understanding and respect for diversity and multi-culturalism in all its forms; demonstrate sensitivity, acknowledge varied beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and customs, and encourage communication and appreciation of all forms of diversity.  
  • Educates patients, providers, and staff on the Ultrasound procedures performed at El Rio Health
  • Completes work on time
  • Ensures that ultrasound order is correct with the appropriate CPT codes and ICD-10 codes for billing.
  • Maintains professional licensure through ARDMS as required.  
  • Continues to learn new software versions as they are available from the various radiology vendors.
  • Contributes to team effort; and complies with all facility policies and procedures including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Compliance.     

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
  • Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound school.
  • Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) and maintain the ARDMS credentials. 
  • Two (2) years’ experience in the OB/GYN field of practice
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a clinic or hospital setting.

 

If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) and maintain the ARDMS credentials.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.   
  • Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday.  If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages
