THE POSITION

As the District Operations & Development Manager, you are the key liaison between the VP of Store Quality, Visual Merchants, Talent Development, Store Support Center, and Stores. The mission of the District Operations & Development Manager is to ensure that each of the 25-30 stores they support is committed to operational excellence. They meet this mission by working closely with each store team within their district. This relationship is focused primarily on operational compliance in the areas of training and development, payroll management, expense control, and inventory management. This focus ensures our stores are operating efficiently, continuously improving, meeting statutory requirements, and improving financial performance by reducing expenses and losses.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Training and Development: Focused on delivering our in-store training programs, including leadership training, one-two-three-floor, ENU, and other programs aimed at operational excellence, product knowledge, and guest service. Partner with their VP of Store Quality to recommend training opportunities to address operational, guest service, and/or partnership development needs.
  • Payroll Management: Review and monitor scheduling and payroll expenditures and assist with payroll budgeting to ensure stores stay within or below budget while meeting all statutory requirements.
  • Expense Control: Analyze controllable store expenses, monitor actual costs against budget and historical spending, and budget these expenses to improve store profitability.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure compliance with the receipt and movement of goods, including receiving, ticketing, storing, and merchandising, to reduce losses related to damages, demos, and other factors.
  • Asset Protection: Monitor loss prevention indicators, use our Exception-based Reporting System, audit stores for operational and loss prevention opportunities, and attend physical inventories as needed.
  • Store Transition Support: Assist the Store Transition Team in coordinating remodels, transitions, and traveling exhibit stores. This includes new store opening training plans and onboarding all store team members.
  • Other Duties and Special Projects as Required

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of previous retail operations leadership experience, preferably at a district or multi-store level.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly collaborative team player with a track record of partnering with others to meet objectives.
  • Creative and resourceful.
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to train large groups and individuals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Ability to seek out and compile information necessary to make rational and appropriate decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-directed and motivated.

Travel Requirements:

  • The District Operations & Development Manager will be required to travel approximately 25-50% of the time.
