General Statement of Duties:   

Responsible for servicing existing client relationships, expanding existing deposit relationships, working closely with loan officers on referrals and self-sourcing other direct business opportunities.  Proactively target sales opportunities with a focus on real estate developers and investors and property managers.  Establish and maintain contacts with centers of influence and manage and build business customer relationships while ensuring deposit and other sales goals are met. Leverage Bank’s strong commercial real estate and residential and mixed-use lending programs to grow

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed annual goals for deposit acquisition with a primary focus on non-interest DDAs and accounts required by loan covenants.
  • Proactively source, acquire, retain, and deepen customer relationships by maximizing sales and lending opportunities. 
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to identify new business opportunities and engage clients and prospects in collaborative financial management conversations.  Recommend appropriate solutions to facilitate deposit acquisition and prepare or compile new account applications and supporting documents.
  • Utilize core data and CRM tools to monitor deposits and transactions with a key focus on maintaining balances required for monthly loan payments, reserve funds, escrow, lease security, and avoiding overdrafts and losses.
  • Review and update account data and records as required to meet proper compliance and audit standards.
  • Review personal financial statements, business and personal tax returns, and other documents to uncover client needs for cash flow, fraud prevention, online escrow, and lending solutions.
  • Establish and grow a book of business, targeting sales opportunities and selling to new and existing customers, with a focus on real estate industry professionals, property managers, and premier (high net worth) consumers.
  • Collaborate with loan officers and other Bank partners to deepen relationships with existing clients or introduce business prospects to Flushing Bank’s deposit, credit, online banking, and cash management solutions.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with centers of influence (COI’s) and regional or local business organizations to manage and build customer relationships while ensuring sales goals are met. 
  • Develop and execute calling strategies to target prospects for Flushing Bank’s products and services.  Network in person and over the phone with business owners, attorneys, brokers and key decision makers to cross-sell additional products and services to existing customers.
  • Represent Flushing Bank in various business, civic, educational, and community functions to enhance the bank’s image and grow the business.
  • Engage other units of the bank (including Cash Management; Investments at Flushing Bank; Government Banking; and Business Development) as necessary to establish and expand deposit relationships or offer credit and cash management solutions.
  • Participate in sales meetings, sharing best practices, and offering feedback to management on supporting and enhancing team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional accountabilities, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent experience
  • Five + years of work experience in the banking or financial industry
  • Prior experience as a Business Development Officer or Relationship Manager preferred with knowledge of Commercial Real Estate lending and other credit and cash management solutions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of achieving sales goals •Strong understanding of financial institution policies and procedures
  • Strong communication, sales and business development skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

 

Pay Range: $95,000 - $120,000

 Hours: 37.50

 

This is an exempt position.

 The actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience and other factors permitted by law.
