Staff Accountant

Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling accounts for several brands and assisting with the month end close process while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. The Staff Accountant will work well independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities: 

• Reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts for several brands in different ERP systems.
• Research discrepancies, find the root cause and propose a solution
• Responsible for bank account reconciliations, fixed assets and sales tax reporting.
• Process journal entries.
• Reconcile sales and costs.
• Handle project accounting, including preparing and reconciling WIP and job cost reports. Monitor project GP.
• Assist with audit requests
• Back up Credit and Collections Specialist including cash receipts, invoicing, collections and credit hold portal when needed.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: 

•  4-year accounting degree required  One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in excel
• Understanding of GAAP accounting
• Analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to research to find where an issue occurred and be able to propose a solution to improve the process going forward
• Detail Oriented
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self starter – ability to effectively work independently and as a team player
