Loss Control Consultant
*Preference is that the candidate either resided in Vermont or New Hampshire
Summary: Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment inspects insured properties to evaluate physical and operational conditions and promote safety programs by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect physical properties and operations (such as buildings, industrial operations, vehicles, and products or services provided) to evaluate physical conditions and operational, safety practices, and hazardous situations.
- Observe business operations and management practices to determine safety issues and hazards affecting insurance premiums and losses.
- Prepare written report of findings and recommendations for correction of unsafe conditions.
- Develops recommendations to correct uncontrolled exposures, including acceptable alternatives.
- Consult with insureds to control losses and improve safety.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety activities and programs, in conjunction with the insured, to control losses and improve safety.
- Provide verbal and technical advice to assist in compliance (e.g. written, e-mail, or CD copies of programs or training materials for them to use.)
- May provide leadership to junior staff by assigning tasks, training and providing guidance. May provide input to management regarding junior staff performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Level 6: Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Designations and Licenses:
Certificate in General Insurance or equivalent, ASP (Associate Safety Professional), ARM (Associate in Risk Management), or equivalents.
Valid Drivers License
