GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for day-to-day preparation and analysis of corporate accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial statements such as balance sheet and income statement. Assistance with integration of newly acquired business and process improvements, including execution of controls over financial reporting. An opportunity to collaborate on integration of a new ERP system and design of a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant controls environment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and post month-end close accounting entries, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, including inventory, fixed assets, intangible assets, depreciation and amortization, accruals, etc., and adhering to the company’s close timeline.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files, including balance sheet reconciliations, in accordance with the company’s accounting policies and processes.
  • Analyze actual results against budgets and communicate key drivers of period-over-period variances to various stakeholders including accounting leadership and finance teams.
  • Assist with recurring and ad-hoc financial reporting for use by leadership.
  • Prepare year-end accounting disclosures.
  • Prepare documents for audits.
  • Work diligently with other stakeholders, both internal and external, including finance, operations, supply chain, tax, etc. to understand business practices and to provide support across all business functions as it relates to financial reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with integration of newly acquired business, including identifying areas for accounting process improvements and synergies with the legacy business.
  • Support the Corporate Controller in designing and executing controls sufficient for a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB


Skills and Requirements

  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft computer applications.
  • Working knowledge and experience of an accounting ERP system is a plus. 
  • Attention to detail and curiosity to resolve problems.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidentiality and integrity.

 

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • Two Years Public Accounting Experience Preferred
  • CPA licensed or working towards certification. 
  • Experience in the food or manufacturing industry, or with inventory/cost accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with business combination accounting is a plus.
