The pay range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000/annually. This is a remote based position

The Logistics Coordinator at FreshRealm, will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of perishable goods. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with transporting fresh and frozen products. The Logistics Coordinator will manage the entire logistics process, from coordinating inbound and transfer of ingredients that reach our facilities when needed and finished goods reach our customers in the best possible condition to achieve a high on-time, fill rate standard.  


Key Responsibilities:  


Coordinate and Monitor Logistics for Inbound/Outbound/Transfer of freight:  
• Oversee the shipment and distribution of fresh and frozen finished goods and ingredients, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the quality and safety of the goods.  
• Track and monitor the movement of shipments, with the majority being temperature-sensitive items so they arrive when needed.  
• Coordinate with freight providers to arrange efficient and temperature-controlled transportation methods.  


Supplier and Vendor Management:  
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors that supply needed services including freight brokers, asset-based freight operators, LTL providers, focusing on vendors who specialize in fresh and perishable goods.  
• Negotiate rates with freight vendors and logistics providers to secure cost-effective, reliable services that prioritize product freshness.  
• Monitor supplier and vendor performance, addressing any issues that may affect product quality or delivery schedules.  


Documentation and Compliance:  
• Ensure contracted freight vendors comply with internal performance standards and other industry-specific guidelines.  
• Create freight purchase orders for inbound/outbound/transfers linking freight costs to the material and finished goods transported.  
• Track on-time pick-up and delivery performance for set KPI metrics.   


Process Improvement:  
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve logistics processes, particularly in areas related to the transportation of fresh and frozen products.  
• Develop and implement SOPs specific to the handling, transportation, and scheduling of perishable goods.  
• Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact logistics and supply chain operations for fresh and frozen products.  


Customer Service:  
• Provide excellent logistics support by addressing inquiries related to the delivery and condition of fresh ingredients and finished goods.  
• Communicate proactively with customers and vendors and internal teams (e.g., business development, customer service, operations, and fulfillment) to ensure expectations are met and any issues are resolved swiftly.  


Qualifications:  
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Food Science, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).  
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably in the food and beverage industry with a focus on fresh products.  
Skills:  
• Strong understanding of cold chain logistics and the challenges associated with transporting perishable goods.  
• Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., TMS with Mercury Gate experience a plus, WMS, ERP) and MS Office Suite.
