Digital Media Coordinator
Summary:
The primary responsibility of the coordinator position is to assist in the growth, development, and implementation of the Zoo’s photo and video needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the public relations/marketing director:
• Ideate video and photography content for the Zoo’s various communication channels, including (but not limited to) social media, website, digital monitors, and e-news
• Create videos from concept to completion for use on multiple platforms, often times working with specific deadlines or under time constraints
• Coordinate video and photography events with the animal programs department
• Proactively seek out and create/develop appealing digital content about the Zoo’s animals, conservation efforts, events, and educational programs
• Ensure quality digital content is delivered efficiently and effectively
• Ensure digital content is aligned with the Zoo’s brand standards and guidelines
• Assist department with additional photo needs for website, monitors and graphics
• Assist in visual content database management
• Have regular and punctual attendance
• Work modified schedule as needed and determined by management
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate video production experience or proficiencies.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Adobe Premier Pro and Lightroom
• Experience with lighting and audio equipment
• Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Canva preferred
• Experience with storytelling, both written and visual
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, Power Point, etc.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and learn systems quickly to utilize them for research
• Independent problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented personality with the ability to anticipate needs
• Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability
Education and/or Experience:
• 1-3 years of experience and portfolio/samples preferred and encouraged
• High proficiency with Adobe Premier Pro and Lightroom
• High proficiency with DSLR and/or mirrorless cameras
• Preference given to candidates with internships or experience in the communications field
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or or move up to 40 pounds. Some moving of tables, chairs and boxes in preparation of special events will be required as well as hanging signs, using ladder, and driving motorized carts.
