If you’re interested in joining our team, we are recruiting for an Operations Coordinator.  This position would be responsible for the following:

 

  1. Staffing and Scheduling:
    • Ensure staffing decisions align with the Food Safety Management System, Workforce Safety Initiatives, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Optimize daily staffing of union production team members, including accuracy checks, documentation, and backup training for scheduling.
    • Attend daily production huddles to share personnel updates.
  2. Attendance and Payroll:
    • Support hourly attendance policy by tracking and alerting Operations Leaders for disciplinary actions.
    • Coordinate with the union payroll clerk to resolve payroll issues before processing each Monday.
    • Maintain communication related to payroll and update operator incentive program forms.
  3. Vacation and Time Off:
    • Manage the annual union vacation/time off process, ensuring adequate staffing levels and compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  4. Training Program:
    • Coordinate, schedule, and monitor training checklists for production employees.
    • Facilitate weekly training meetings and follow-ups to ensure successful training.
    • Keep training materials up to date and address gaps in training.
  5. Hiring and Onboarding:
    • Support and occasionally lead hiring and onboarding activities for hourly/union operations employees.
    • Maintain employee groupings in SharePoint.
    • Partner with HR for onboarding and offboarding processes.
  6. Documentation and Process Improvement:
    • Keep relevant documents updated (e.g., Staffing by Area, Training Percentage Spreadsheet, Training Plan).
    • Identify gaps in existing standards (e.g., labor scheduling, job posting, training, vacation sign-up) and drive improvements.
    • Utilize external resources for training on standards and problem-solving.
  7. Union Relations and Meetings:
    • Offer language input into the union contract.
    • Attend Shop Committee meetings.
    • Maintain documentation to demonstrate operator competency.
  8. Backup Support:
    • Provide backup support for the Operations Leader Group as needed.
  9. Other Activities:
    • Engage in additional projects or tasks as directed.

 

Experience & Education:

  • HS Diploma required, preferred Associate or Bachelor degree in Operations Management
  • 5-7 years of experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment with demonstrated Union workforce scheduling knowledge
  • Proven skills in analytical thinking, interpersonal relations, written and oral communications, multi-tasking, decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution. 
  • Solid MS Office Application Skills

 

Other Position Info:

  • Onsite position; core business hours (8 am – 5 pm)
  • Flexibility in hours, some weeknight, weekend/holiday work may be required
