JOB SUMMARY: The Surveillance Operations Analyst, reporting to the Surveillance Operations Manager, will play a crucial role in handling emergency & non-emergency telephone calls, actioning alarm signals, managing video surveillance, and access control systems, and coordinating responses to security and safety incidents. They will provide timely and accurate information and reporting to staff using data from time sensitive databases. Additionally, the Analyst will generate incident reports for security and investigate purposes and act as a liaison between supervision/management and security personnel.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor CCTV, alarm signals, and access control systems for a network of facilities across North America.
  • Verify security related alarms, dispatch first responders as needed, provide situation updates to security staff, and coordinate with local authorities.
  • Maintain real-time knowledge of the location and the status of various security personnel.
  • Create accurate communication logs and accurately report incidents in incident management databases.
  • Provide situational awareness of issues occurring throughout the region through internet observation and news media reporting.
  • Establish intergroup communication with other support elements to coordinate responses to security incidents.
  • Utilize geographic information systems to ascertain potential risk and incidents that occur in the vicinity of the company's assets.
  • Provide information for investigative purposes using data and information available in sensitive security databases.
  • Support critical role of "incident reach-back" by facilitating the dissemination of information to mobilize the necessary resources to ensure that the regional staff can mitigate immediate risk and incidents.
  • Utilize SharePoint sites and Microsoft Office Suite Programs to generate reports and access security related information.
  • Make common sense decisions and exercise action during high tension and stressful situations.
  • Conduct training of newly placed peers in all duties of the job, provide training updates to supervisory staff as needed.
  • Interact in a positive manner with all employees, customers, consultants, and vendors.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of security data and trends to identify vulnerabilities and recommend proactive security measures.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments of physical security measures, such as perimeter fencing, access control systems, and surveillance cameras, to identify weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze existing security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Identify gaps or inconsistencies in security policies and provide recommendations for updates or revisions.
  • Recommend technological enhancements or upgrades to improve the overall security posture of the organization.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Licenses, and Certifications:

  • Must have a high school education or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience with multi-line phone systems.
  • Comfortable using various computer systems simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to obtain D security License.

Skills Required:

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Proven experience in security monitoring, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.
  • Experience in Command Center Dispatch/Operator or High-Volume Call Center.
  • Experience responding to commercial alarm systems and interpreting incoming signals.
  • Experience with CCTV software platforms, identifying anomalous activity, and initiating an appropriate response.
  • Proven experience in security monitoring, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills for efficient data entry and report generation.

Physical Requirements and Environment:

  • Office, minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Working on PC and using telephone while sitting for extended periods of time (4+ hours).
  • Sitting, typing.
