Summary

 

The Project Read Facilitator is responsible for guiding and supporting a team of tutors to ensure effective and engaging learning experiences for students. This role involves planning and coordinating training sessions, managing group dynamics, and providing ongoing support and feedback to tutors. This role may involve working in various educational settings, including schools, tutoring centers, and online platforms. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate tutors’ schedules.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  1. Recruitment: Identify and attract qualified tutors through various channels such as career fairs and networking events.
  2. Organize and Schedule: Develop and manage a comprehensive schedule for tutoring sessions, ensuring optimal coverage and efficient use of resources. Coordinate with tutors to accommodate their availability and preferences.
  3. Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs for tutors to enhance their teaching skills and methodologies.
  4. Support and Guidance: Provide ongoing support to tutors, addressing their questions and concerns, and offering constructive feedback.
  5. Session Planning: Assist tutors in planning and organizing their tutoring sessions to ensure they are effective and engaging.
  6. Resource Management: Develop and distribute educational materials and resources to support tutoring sessions.
  7. Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the performance of tutors, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  8. Group Facilitation: Lead group discussions and activities to foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  9. Organize Events: Lead and coordinate events such as literacy workshops, family literacy events and community outreach activities.
  10. Conflict Resolution: Address any conflicts or issues that arise among tutors or between tutors and students, ensuring a positive and productive atmosphere.
  11. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest educational techniques and tools and incorporate them into training and tutoring practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in the area of Vocational Education/Education field preferred 

 

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience as a tutor, teacher, or training facilitator; strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage group dynamics
  • Proficiency in using educational technology; strong computer skills 
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for education and helping others succeed.

  • Employee must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. Employee must use own vehicle for travel within the GESMV service area; must have and maintain a reliable source of transportation.
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

  1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Applications
  2. Proficiency in web-based data management systems and applications for computer instruction and employment
  3. Ability to load software, troubleshoot basic problems, and learn about current software
