Summary

The Early Childhood Community Interventionist is responsible for family engagement and educational components of services offered to families and children in the home-based setting. This includes but is not limited to planning and implementation of the designated child and family curriculum, ensuring implementation of family and 2-gen events. Recruit, enroll and maintain caseload throughout the school year. Link families with the appropriate community service providers. Provide comprehensive social services to families as the need is identified. You will ensure support and analysis of child and family progress in ensuring compliance with state regulations and federal Head Start Performance Standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Program Coordinator in program planning and implementation.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of infant and child developmental milestones.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with GESMV child screeners, community childcare center staff, and families.
  4. Performs work in an ethical manner and ensures that persons are treated with dignity and respect. Self- determination of persons must be acknowledged and respected.
  5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work with a diverse staff and client population.
  6. Assess children referred by child screeners and community childcare centers using evidence-based screening tools (DECA, ASQ-SE).
  7. Compile necessary reports and documentation as required.
  8. Provide supervisor with necessary documentation and reports in a timely fashion.
  9. Ensure compliance with all agency policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet Department of Labor and all other relevant regulatory standards.
  10. Ensure compliance with all Agency policies, procedures throughout areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, childcare, education, or social service-related field a plus.
  • Experience in Education related to infants, young children and families with behavioral and/or social emotional needs strongly preferred.

Experience Requirements

         Experience working cooperatively with teachers/childcare providers/families preferred.

  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

  4. Commitment to the health and well-being of socially disadvantaged persons.
  5. Annual criminal background check may be required of employees serving mental health trainees and behavioral health services programs
  6. Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision as well as have the ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
  7. Responsible for ensuring safety of children and active supervision during visit.
  8. Ability to deal with daily operational challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  10. Ensure and support child and parenting curriculum fidelity through ongoing professional development.
  11. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well with a broad spectrum of people; including consumers and employees and have excellent organizational, writing and reading skills.
  12. Good time management, planning and implementation skills
  13. Ability to think creatively and problem-solve.
  14. Must be physically able to move quickly in and outside the classroom, home or facility (such as but not limited to: sitting on the floor and/or in child size chair, bend from knee to waist, stoop and squat to talk to children at their eye level, climb stairs, physical outdoor play, walks.
  15. Travel to and from client home required
