Summary

 

In a collaborative effort the Employment Coach establishes and maintains direct service activities for Miami Valley Works Members through the matching and sharing of STAR Employer as well as open market Job Leads, support of job retention and case management for members living in poverty across Miami Valley Works programs.  Achieves monthly and annual outcome goals specific to position.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  1. DIRECT MEMBER SERVICE
    1. Conduct debriefing sessions which include barrier removal coaching and subsequent service coordination by accessing of both internal Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley and community resources.
    2. Promotes successful employment of members through regular contact and an established job search/retention routine assessing the individual's skills/education, work history, schedules, and transportation needs.
    3. Provides individual support to assist members in the development and on-going management of their Service Plans, identification of barriers to employment and access to barrier removal support services.
    4. Debrief members via employer feedback through barrier removal coaching and information provided regarding internal and community resources available.
    5. On-going engagement directly with the employer to obtain feedback and status of job seeker’s work performance and/or employment application.
    6. Guide Members in email set-up, application procedures, typing and general test/questionnaire preparation, interviewing skills and attitude while providing support, encouragement and feedback to make job search more effective.
    7. Partner with Member to arrange interviews.
  2. CASE MANAGEMENT
    1. Assist Members in the development and management of their Individual Service Plans.
    2. Through barrier removal coaching provide Member direction and information regarding internal and community resources available for successful removal.
    3. Fiscal management of Miami Valley Works barrier removal resources.
    4. Identification of barriers which require long term remediation and status change to barrier removal.
    5. Partner with support staff to optimize the results of barrier removal services.
    6. Identify Members who will be eligible and are strong candidates for Advancement Program.
    7. Serves as a role model for professional conduct and behavior.

 

 

 

  1. JOB SEARCH
    1. Conduct, teach, and coach job search techniques.
    2. Match STAR Employer job opportunities with available job seeking Members.
    3. Facilitate job search/career information workshops and presentations.
    4. Keep updated regarding job fairs and internet resources.
    5. Research newspapers, agencies, and other resources for job opportunities.
    6. Promotes employment efforts leading to the Member’s self-sufficiency through regular contact and an established job search/retention routine.
  2. RETENTION
    1. Monitor Member's job performance through regular contact with member. Identify any barriers to successful job retention and coach member to identify solutions which allow the member to remain successful on the job.
    2. Provide Member support and encouragement to retain job for one year.
    3. Ensure that 30 day, 90 day and 120 day job evaluation is sent to Member for completion.
    4. Celebrate one year — one job with member.
  3. ADMINISTRATIVE AND CLERICAL
    1. Provides timely inputs and maintains Member databases.
    2. Compiles monthly employment data and submits reports utilizing databases.
    3. General office filing.
    4. Maintain daily online files/records, logs and tracking to ensure current and organized activity for timely follow-up of direct Member services.
    5. Operate a variety of office equipment and utilize a variety of Microsoft Office Suite products to produce business documents and reporting.
    6. Respond to voicemail, email and traditional mail within 48 hours.
  4. GENERAL
    1. Assists in the Skills Training workshops as assigned and on an as-needed basis
    2. Other duties as assigned for the effective and smooth operation of Miami Valley Works
    3. Serve as a role model for professional conduct and behavior.
    4. Work with leadership and team on continuous improvement activities.
    5. Plan and make presentations to groups including potential employers, business representatives, teachers, and program participants.
    6. Utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work.
    7. Work independently and meet timelines.
    8. Coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously.
  5. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
    1. Stay on top of current trends and maintain labor market information by researching websites, attending meetings, maintaining contacts with various professional and community organizations involved in job placement and training activities.
  6. OTHER DUTIES
    1. Other duties as assigned for the effective and smooth operation of Miami Valley Works

Education Requirements

 

Bachelor’s Degree or higher from accredited college and/or equivalent experience in Human Services, HR, training, recruiting and/or job coaching.

 

Experience Requirements


Coursework or experience in coaching, management/leadership, and social services desirable but not required.  Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income people and fundamental belief in their resiliency.  Excellent problem solving skills.  Proven ability to inspire change.  Ability to multitask and prioritize various tasks and activities in fast paced environment.

Must have a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. If at any time the employee is unable to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider, they must immediately notify Human Resources.

 

Must have flexibility to work non-standard business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed for Member recruiting events.

 

Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

 

Skills & Abilities

 

  1. Experienced user of Microsoft Office; in particular, Word and Excel.
  2. Intermediate database management skills.
