PAY RANGE: $98,600.00 - $125,000.00 ANNUALLY

 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Visual Communications Strategist is part of Golden 1’s Enterprise Communications team and will be relied upon to utilize a strategic mindset to create visually stunning communication materials to support internal partners and business needs. This role will also work very closely with our Creative Services team to ensure alignment with corporate brand and support internal needs across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will possess a robust editorial background, be a natural strategic thinker, have exceptional design skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with peers and leaders to develop clear, impactful narratives. This role will be instrumental in ensuring that our visual communications have impact and reflect our organization's brand, values, and strategic priorities. Additionally, the successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, adept at handling rapid turnarounds, and navigating across multiple projects at one time.

 

TASK, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: 

  • Conduct research on industry trends, market insights, and competitor activities to inform visual communication strategies and design tailored for the Credit Union. 
  • Provide strategic guidance to Enterprise Communications team on visual communication best practices, contribute to messaging tactics and audience engagement techniques specific to the credit union industry. 
  • Coordinate and manage visual elements of communication campaigns and initiatives for the Credit Union, ensuring seamless execution and delivery of key messages and stories. 
  • Serve in a key Enterprise Communications role to ensure consistent visual messaging and alignment with overall objectives. 
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts, using metrics such as internal audience engagement, reach, and sentiment to adjust strategies accordingly. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: 

 

  1. Visual inspection, involving closely examining written and visual content for errors in design, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully use computers, phones, editing software, formatting documents. 
  3. The ability to organize tasks, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and prioritize workload.

  1. INTERNAL:  Marketing, Enterprise Communication & Legal
  2. EXTERNAL:  Agencies, Consultants, External Partners

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Graphic Design or related field. 

EXPERIENCE:   8-10+ years of experience in corporate communications, editing, or related field, preferably within the financial industry. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Strong editorial background with exceptional design skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to develop clear and impactful narratives that resonate with our employees, members, and stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as thought partner with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage rapid turnarounds. 
  • Familiarity with credit union operations and the ability to align communication materials with our organizational goals. 
  • Experience working with senior leadership or within a corporate environment, understanding the nuances of executive communication. 
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing and executing successful communication plans. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), PowerPoint, video editing software, and content management systems.
  • Digital agility and the ability to adapt to new technologies and platforms quickly. 
  • Ability to translate complex ideas and strategies into clear and concise design and messaging. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborate effectively cross-functionally.
  • Committed to high-quality work and service excellence for all stakeholders. 
  • Meticulous with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. 
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer  
  1. Corrected vision within the normal range.
  1. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
  1. Occasional overnight travel as required.
