PAY SCALE: $119,300.00 - $125,000.00 ANNUALLY   

                 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) Portfolio Manager, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for overall direction, implementation, execution, control, and project management of enterprise-wide projects, including the research and development of new concepts, ideas and applications ensuring consistency with credit union strategy, commitments, and goals to accelerate the achievement of business value. Shapes, drives, and implements innovative approaches and solutions within and across the enterprise to achieve desired business outcomes. Partners and consults with various business and technical partners to deliver iterative business value and achieve business strategy and objectives

 

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:  

 

  1. Leads divisional or enterprise initiatives with moderate to hig h scope and complexity. Leads programs/project team member and business/technical partners. Drives leaders across the enterprise to deliver value and achieve business strategies and objectives
  2. Program Communication & Administration
    1. Shapes programs/projects to deliver business value with shorter iterations of project delivery
    2. Drives and influences program alignment and success through monitoring program, industry, functional or technology trends; incorporate emerging business and consumer trends into applicable programs
    3. Understands customer journey to guide the delivery of business outcomes
    4. Develops appropriate communication strategies and secures commitment for program/project decisions; guides program teams to communicate solution vision and priorities
    5. Defines strategies and plans for influencing multiple decision makers
    6. Develops plans to overcome resistance to many types of change
    7. Sets expectations and assuages fears associated with impact of change and guides team forward
    8. Guides communities of practice and project community forums to address ongoing needs for the project professional community; Supports the execution of ongoing efforts to improve project delivery
  1. Program / Project Delivery
    1. Sets project expectations and strategy; Ensures the development of organizational change plans and project financials
    2. Contributes to solution options and supports business partner decision making to minimize the amount of project investment divergence from target outcomes
    3. Partners with program/project teams to identify opportunities for creating reusable artifacts
    4. Leads project/program teams to identify measurable business value to ensure metrics are gathered and business objectives are realized
    5. Leads project/program team to continually focus on business strategy, vision and prioritizes based on delivery of business value
    6. Manages through ambiguity; Manages and resolves conflict issues and risks to remove barriers within the project/program team while continuing momentum on initiatives
    7. Identifies and manages interdependencies within projects and programs
    8. Develop Request for Proposals (RFP), including business needs and product/service expectations. Analyze and compare vendor responses, conduct vendor risk assessment (financial, physical, and electronic security reviews) and prepare a vendor summary and recommendation. 
    9. Work with business owners to assess vendor products and interfaces impacted by projects and make recommendations for cost effective, efficient improvements.

    1. Challenge where appropriate to drive initiatives and program/project teams forward
    2. Consults with teams, stakeholders, and business leaders to identify and resolve emerging business needs
    3. Collaborates with business and technology partners and leaders to identify value drivers
    4. Partners with leaders to understand trade-offs and align program vision; assess the different types of support required to achieve goals which also achieve business value
    5. Develops business solutions and partners business and technology to align with overall strategy of the business
    6. Provides partners and leaders with an accurate view of challenges to adoption; recognizes, clarifies, and prioritizes concerns
    7. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position

    1. Motivates and inspires teams to coalesce and commit to shared purpose
    2. Drive team effort and promote team coordination
    3. Create a collaborative environment of distributed or virtual teams
    4. Provide guidance, feedback, coaching and mentoring to project team members. 
  1. Strategy and Analysis
    1. Coordinates, supports, and may influence the prioritization for the business and ensures alignment with strategic goals
    2. Effectively engages stakeholders and consults with senior leaders and executives to define measurable business value and benefits
    3. Analyze and understand project trends and themes around activities, budgets, and resources; Make recommendations for adjustments as necessary and identify and develop contingency plans to mitigate and address risks

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:  

  1. Exceptional oral and written communication skills to interact with members, credit union staff and management, negotiate vendor agreements and manage project teams. 
  2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as personal computer, multi-use copiers and telephone. 
  3. Must be able to work on own initiative. 
  4. Excellent project management skills are required to manage the implementation enterprise-wide projects, prepare recommendations, perform analysis, and to accomplish other project management functions as listed. Proficient in MS Project software. 
  5. Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines; may be required to work extended hours to complete tasks. 
  6. Carry and respond to smartphone 24/7. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:  

  1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management, including Senior Management. 

 

  1. EXTERNAL: Members, vendors, suppliers, government agencies, credit union industry associations and peers at other financial institutions. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  1. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Management Information Systems or Computer Science is strongly preferred. Advanced Degree in Business Administration or other related area is preferred. 

 

  1. EXPERIENCE: Minimum eight years of combined experience inproject analysis, coordination, and management with a minimum of five years of experience directly managing projects. Experience managing moderate complexity projects end-to-end required, preferably in a financial institution. 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: 

  1. Knowledge of financial products and services, especially as it relates to various delivery channels preferred. 
  2. Knowledge of existing credit union products, services and overall operational guidelines. 
  3. Strong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies and process improvement methodologies, e.g. Lean or Six Sigma a plus. 
  4. Strong research, analytical, planning and organizational skills.
  5. Customer-focused attitude and ability to work proactively and efficiently. 
  6. Supportive of all decisions, choices, goals and objectives as determined by PMO leadership and Executive leadership. 
  7. Proven ability to evaluate key business objectives and develop appropriate action plans. 
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. 
  9. Ability to use logical reasoning when making objective observations, examinations, evaluations and recommendations. 
  10. Familiarity with common contractual language and contract negotiation

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. 
  2. Corrected vision within the normal range. 
  3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. 
  4. Ability to lift 20 lbs. as may be required 
  5. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc. 
  6. May require long work hours to accomplish tasks. 
  7. Occasional travel may be required locally, statewide, and throughout the United States to attend seminars and vendor group meetings. Overnight travel and evening schedules included. 
  8. Prolonged use of telephone to accomplish tasks. 

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:  

1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred.
