Job Title: IT Data Engineer

 

Salary Range: $90,000-110,000

 

About the Position

The Data Engineer maintains critical business infrastructure for data management and reporting used by business units across the company. This position supports analysts and key stakeholders on data initiatives and includes participating in the identification, design, and implementation of internal process improvements; including data reliability, efficiency, and quality of data management.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

 

  • Create and contribute to frameworks that improve the efficacy of logging data, while working with data infrastructure to triage and resolve issues.
  • Develop and operationalize data pipelines
  • Conduct data quality checks necessary for the promoting/certifying enterprise level data sets made available for consumption.
  • Perform peer reviews of other data engineers’ work.
  • Manage Service Level Agreements (SLA) for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.
  • Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.
  • Solve data integration problems, using optimal Extract, Transform and Load (ETL).
  • Deliver data solutions using agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information or equivalent combination of work experience and continuing education.
  • Five years of work experience with database management, data conversion and reporting.
  • Back office experience with Retail and Financial industries.
  • Data oriented, self-directed personality with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire and capacity for learning quickly in a fast paced environment, while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences both written and verbally.
  • Understanding of best practices for communicating visual information in Power BI.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks and perform root cause analysis.
  • Experience with:
    • Data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
    • Working in fast-paced agile development environments.
    • Data Workflow development
    • Root cause analyses.

  • Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • LogicApps, Power Apps, Power Automate
  • Cloud-based platforms for Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Database, Azure Data Lake, Data Factory
  • Git/Azure DevOps
  • Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Abilities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30-50 pounds and to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
