Job Title: Donation Station Attendant (DSA)

About the Position

The Donation Station Attendant is responsible for accepting donated goods from the public and providing excellent customer service.

 

Pay Range: $19.97-20.97/hour DOE. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. 

  • Greets donors in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner; unloads donations from vehicles and offer tax receipts.
  • Evaluate donated items to determine if acceptable for donation.
  • Sort donations into assigned categories and pack safely into container(s).
  • Inform supervisor of status of station, container footage, and condition.
  • Maintain accurate donor tallies and other support duties.
  • Maintain accurate and timely loading check lists.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Identify and properly dispose of garbage and process recyclable material.
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • If applicable: Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified to Seattle Goodwill standards.*
  • Must maintain reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • No previous experience or education required
  • Ability to read, speak and write English and perform basic math skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse team

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

*Forklift certification optional; must meet eligibility requirements.

 

Computer/Technology Skills:

  • Ability to use a mobile phone

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 40-60 pounds.  The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an outdoors environment, temperature varies with weather and exposure to dust.  The noise level in the work environment is loud. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
