The Metallurgical Engineer will Conduct studies relating to metallurgy and raw materials used in the production of ductile iron castings and maintain appropriate documentation of test procedures. Ensure all safety, quality, and productivity processes and procedures are followed within areas of responsibility.

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Exhibit superior safety practices every day evidenced by outstanding housekeeping at all times.
  • Extend treatment to all other employees of the Company as individuals with the courtesy and dignity shown to customers.
  • Exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail.
  • Exercise maximum care to protect the environment by fostering and supporting responsible operating procedures.
  • Provide technical expertise to lab technicians involved in process control activities, ensuring adherence to accepted Company and industry test standards. Ensure that lab tests are conducted properly, and that appropriate test documentation is maintained.
  • Conduct research into quality problems that are identified through lab analysis. Prepare and present lab analysis results and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct research into technical development issues to enhance understanding of the production process and reduce variations, production costs and scrap.
  • Provide technical expertise to production personnel and offer specific process improvement recommendations to fulfill customer quality expectations.
  • Review and interpret CER’s for metallurgical specifications, providing advice to other managers on customer demands in relation to Company capabilities.
  • Provide advice to solve customer quality problems relating to metallurgical concerns.
  • Conduct prescribed tests to determine whether raw materials meet Company specifications. Perform related record keeping and documentation.
  • Perform a variety of special projects and/or studies relating to metallurgical issues as required.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis relating to the metallurgical aspects of process improvements.
  • Perform all required physical testing to ensure metallurgical certification of Company products.
  • Control sand systems parameters within specified ranges. Make adjustments as needed to maintain and improve productivity and quality.
  • Secure proper tools for each task.
  • Communicate suggestions and recommend solutions to problems to provide for an efficient operation.
  • Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member.
  • Perform other assignments as may be requested.

 

What We Need From You:

 

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Three to five years’ experience.
  • Perform and coordinate professional work.
