This position is hybrid. There will be onsite clinical requirements, but also the opportunity to work remotely.

 

The Developmental Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Services department provides a variety of services including:

  • Psychological evaluation for autism spectrum disorders and related diagnoses.
  • Feedback and counseling to families about diagnosis and treatment.
  • Care pathway development for children with autism and their families.
  • Assessment for the presence of other comorbid diagnoses in addition to ASD along with recommendations for pathways of care for these conditions, where present.
  • Provision of individual, family, and group mental health treatment to assist in the amelioration of the child’s/family’s behavioral difficulties and to promote adaptive functioning.
  • Consultation to families, schools, primary care providers and others regarding children with mental health problems and behavior challenges.
  • Assessment and psychotherapy with children, adults and families across a wide range of presenting mental health concerns.
  • Clinical supervision of behavioral health students and providers in training as needed.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment skills, skills in working with and assessing children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Diagnoses/Developmental Delays and their families, and skills in assessing and treating a wide variety of mental health disorders in children, adults and families. They will be part of one of our outpatient behavioral health clinics and provide both virtual and in office assessment and treatment per department protocols. They will complete documentation in the electronic medical record in a timely manner per department protocols, and chart in a manner that is patient-oriented and professional. The Developmental Psychologist will actively participate in case consultations with their local and broader behavioral health teams and be an active participate in Behavioral Health team and department meetings. The Developmental Psychologist will receive day to day guidance, administrative supervision, and as needed clinical consultation from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program Manager.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA accredited graduate program and a minimum of one (1) year of post-doctoral experience in clinical psychology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Valid, State of Wisconsin license as a Psychologist (or eligibility) and certification/eligibility by the State of Wisconsin Medicaid/ForwardHealth program as a Psychologist/Mental Health Provider is required. 
  3. Possession of a National Provider Identifier (NPI Number) for health care providers is required.
  4. Possession of a valid driver license with a good driving record and ability to provide own transportation to various work locations, as required. 
  5. Professional knowledge of and demonstrated clinical experience with recognized and standardized measures and procedures for autism spectrum disorders and treatment planning for children and their caregivers required.
  6. Professional knowledge of and experience with evidence-based treatments for autism spectrum disorders.
  7. A minimum of three (3) years of mental health practitioner experience in direct clinical services required. Previous experience in an HMO or managed care setting preferred.
  8. Strong clinical skills in working with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders/Developmental Delays are required.
  9. Knowledge of and experience with short term therapy models preferred.
  10. Knowledge, ability and skills in the provision of professional, evidence-based mental health therapy services including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals, couples, families, and groups is required. 
  11. Knowledge, ability and skills in the provision of psychological evaluation including administration of tests and measures which require advanced formal education, to assess areas such as cognitive functioning, development, personality and emotional development, behavior, mental status, academic skills, and other areas of mental health functioning.
  12. Knowledge, skill and ability in writing psychological reports and interpreting test results. Ability to provide consultation, psychological testing and report interpretation, and advice concerning psychological reports across the organization and to GHC-SCW members.
  13. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills, and excellent verbal communication skills, including active listening skills, required.
  14. Ability to provide culturally competent services and to work effectively with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds required.
  15. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and ability learn and use electronic medical record systems such as EPIC is required.
  16. Access to and ability to use a personal computer with stable access to the internet and video conferencing capacity.
  17. Ability to work with clinic and administrative staff, to be a team player in a team-oriented environment, and to interact with staff at all levels is required.
  18. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required.
  19. Excellent customer service skills and professional manner necessary to deal courteously and effectively with patients and the public, required.
  20. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements, and knowledge of HIPAA requirements, required. 
  21. Ability to work some evening hours and after hour on-call is required.
  22. Ability to provide guidance, direction, and clinical supervision to new staff, trainees, or other staff as assigned.
  23. Ability to remain seated and attentive to patient verbalizations for extended periods of time required.
  24. Ability to maintain currency in area of expertise in primary care and/or behavioral health field.
  25. Ability to learn and maintain currency with GHC-SCW and UWHC policies and procedures
