Position Overview

The IT Business Analyst serves as the conduit between the Software Development team and the rest of the organization. This position is responsible for performing detailed business analysis and outlining problems, opportunities and solutions for a business in conjunction with the understanding of Software Development Life Cycle. The IT Business Analyst also acts as a “Product Owner”, which is a hybrid role focusing on project analysis and execution to maximize the value delivered to the organization as a result of its IT investments.

• Identify and understand the business problem and the impact of the proposed solution on the organization's operations.
• Act as system users’/stakeholders’ cradle-to-grave champion within IT for their software development requests.
• Serve as an interface between software developers and end users by working closely with business stakeholders to understand and document their business needs, assess whether and how their request can be implemented in a system-specific way, coordinate with development on estimating effort and duration, and manage user interaction as their requests are developed.
• Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; Monitor project progress by tracking activity; publishing progress reports; resolving problems; recommending actions.
• Develop detailed requirements specifications for software enhancement/change requests.
• Develop test cases which enable effective traceability to detailed requirements.
• Manage and work with IT Operations to schedule software releases and hardware deployments.
• Conduct insightful, ad hoc analysis to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues.
• Research existing Business systems and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop detailed knowledge of HAECO’s Software Applications, including after-the-fact documentation and business process flows as required.
• Attend/conduct exploratory meetings where potential projects are discussed, and provide feedback based upon the reality of software development challenges and timeframes.
• Assist in the creation of an online knowledge base that will encompass the various facets of HAECO’s software systems.

What you need: (Requirements)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields (such as Information Systems) with minimum years of experience in a Business Analyst role.

• Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing.
• Basic knowledge in generating process documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive.
• Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools.
• Minimum two-year experience with diagramming tools (e.g.: Microsoft Visio).
• Normal office environment where approximately 80% of work is performed in a sitting position with balance of time walking, moving around various work areas.
• Normal mental and visual attention with manual coordination for keyboard operations approximately 90% of the time.
• Normal or corrected hearing and vision required.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred

• A hybrid role of IT Business Analyst and a Project Manager (PMP preferred)
• Experience with at least two of the following toolsets: SQL, Power BI, Java, Python, Groovy, Ruby
