With 91 years of history, Harkins Theatres is looking for a CAD Specialist who coordinates and provides design and layout services utilizing AutoCAD and Revit to develop preliminary drawings for theatres and additional Harkins concepts. This position will be based out of our Theatre Support Office in Scottsdale and will be part of our Construction Department.

What You Will Be Doing: 

 

  • Coordinates design requirements for various project types with all internal and external partners.
  • Creates seating and/or layout plans to coordinate with existing conditions and current standards for various remodel and new projects.
  • Creates schematic site plans and elevations.
  • Creates and maintains drawing standards (i.e. AutoCAD blocks and Revit Families).
  • Manipulates drawings by others, as needed.
  • Review and Mark-up shop drawings from Harkins consultants.
  • Reviews all work for accuracy against directions given prior to submitting files for leadership review.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates information, and delivers work within agreed timelines.
  • Regular attendance and physical presence at the work site.
  • Sets high standards for self while maintaining company standards, policies, and procedures to ensure delivery of the ultimate moviegoing experience at all times.
  • Maintains a professional working environment while setting a positive and professional example for others to follow.
  • Requires typing on a computer, reaching, interacting with employees, problem solving, cognitive skills, bending, lifting and carrying light items, twisting, and leading a group of employees.

Additional Duties

  • Shared responsibility for maintaining and organizing sample library.
  • Occasional travel to job sites for project status review - approximately 5%.
  • Annually updates policies and procedures manual.

 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in design or architecture and 2+ years experience or technical training/certification plus 5 years of CAD design experience. 
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret legal documents, building codes, design documents, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions percentage, area, circumference and volume.
  • Able to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings/plans.
  • Microsoft Project, Excel (advanced skills), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet browsing.  AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, Bluebeam, Photoshop, and Illustrator proficiency a must.
  • Knowledge of various construction and structural systems and components.
  • Knowledge of basic architecture and interior design principles.
  • Strong hand sketch ability a plus.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards.
  • Capable of remaining calm and using good judgment in elevating situations.
  • Ability to interpret, review, and mark-up shop drawings from Harkins’ consultants.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.Able to work independently and/or collaboratively with a team.Able to focus and navigate aggressive deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor. Demonstrates unimpeachable integrity and accountability. Communicates professionally in all circumstances.
