GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to conduct maintenance and repairs for the Support Office in a timely manner and up to Harmons standards.  This person will be performing maintenance and repairs including minor plumbing, minor electrical, and flooring where a contractor’s license is not required.  This person will also assist Harmons departments and non-Harmons tenants in the building with maintenance issues and will complete projects as directed by the Vice President of Store Development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows established support office policies and procedures
  • Maintains plumbing repairs including leaking faucets, toilets, and drains
  • Handles minor electrical repairs at the support office including switches on register belts, and light switches and plugs
  • Responsible for painting and touch-up painting for stores including interior and minor exterior.
  • Repairs VCT flooring as needed to maintain company standards
  • Ensures roof drains are working properly
  • Drives to suppliers as needed to pick up materials and parts
  • Completes various projects as directed by the Vice President of Store Development
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all tenants
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the company as a whole

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED preferred; or any combination of education, 2 years of experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, floor repairs, painting, and overall repair work
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel between stores and pick up items from suppliers
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively
  • Continually strives to be product minded, customer minded, personnel minded, detailed, consistent and forward focused
  • Ability to use good judgment and to make decisions quickly and independently
  • Must be able to prioritize and time projects as to not interfere with normal business

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot, cold, slippery and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries.  The associate will use tools such as a drill, hammer, wrench, painting tools, and circular hand saws on a day-to-day basis.  This position also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
