Landscape Estimator
SUMMARY
Provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on large, complex landscape construction work and all types of contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
- Support other department personnel as required may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
- May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combinations technical training and/or related experience; 5-8 years estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in similar facility construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accounts required. Broad knowledge and understanding of landscape construction and methods. Advanced understanding of the project life cycle, including bid, proposal, and estimation process, and project management. Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts (e.g., Design Build, CMAR, Design-Bid-Build, etc.), plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort essential. Ability to prepare complex proposals with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent MS Office skills are required, in addition to experience utilizing scheduling and bid/estimating software.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
