Heavy Equipment Fuel/Lube Technician (CDL)
Summary
The Lube Technician (Heavy Equipment) is responsible for fueling, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform daily service on various jobsites to include lubricating of heavy construction equipment, which includes checking fluid levels, changing fluids and greasing
- Prior experience working on heavy equipment is preferred including diagnostics, maintenance and repair of diesel and gas engines, transmissions, hydraulics and electrical systems on heavy equipment
- Familiarity with tools and procedures necessary for diagnosis and repair of heavy construction equipment and trucks
- Possess problem solving skills essential to the diagnostics and repair of heavy construction and support equipment
- Routine inspection, and maintenance of heavy equipment and support equipment including gas and diesel engines, transmissions and drives including hydraulic and electrical systems
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with HAZMAT and tanker endorsement
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Detail-oriented with the ability to process information quickly and accurately
- Takes initiative and prioritizes tasks: organizational, problem-prevention and problem- solving skills
- Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team of individuals
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in repair/service heavy civil construction equipment required
- High School diploma or its equivalent
- Must have the ability to climb ladders and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Working knowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required
Additional Requirements
- This position is exposed to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; loud noises and fumes.
- Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards.
- Requires valid state-specific driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record that meets Haydon’s insurability requirements.
