SUMMARY

The Project Engineer has responsibility for coordination of technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates project duties in conjunction with the Project Manager & Project Superintendent. A Project Engineer will monitor work for quality assurance and quality control, accepted engineering practices and standards, ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned project between all disciplines and all other project assignments.  While on a project, the Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager & Project Superintendent, who has ultimate responsibility for both the quality of Haydon's deliverable and effective execution of project assignments. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Management of Submittal & Shop Drawing process in accordance with CPM deliverable goals, including creation of submittal log
  • Responsible for the change order management process by securing pricing from the vendor/subcontractor, reviewing, and inputting the data for project manager review, submitting change requests for approval, and following through with subcontract change orders/purchase orders as directed
  • Timely material approval and procurement is a primary function of this position
  • Actively supports and enforces company safety policies and standards
  • Document Control and record drawing maintenance, including distribution of updated drawings (ASI’s, PR, etc.) to subcontractors in Bluebeam
  • Manage the distribution and documentation of RFI process including linking back to as-built documents
  • Work with project team on CPM and 3 Week Look-Ahead creation and distribution
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control. Ensure all materials and equipment delivered to project site are in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and approved submittals
  • Participating in Owner and Subcontractor meetings, including writing and distributing meeting minutes
  • Assist with As-Builts and Close Out process
  • Assist in preparing, leading, and documenting subcontractor, owner, and preconstruction meetings 
  • Extensive regular contact with assigned subcontractors and Haydon crews
  • Participate in subcontractor’s or foreman’s meetings to help facilitate and enforce jobsite safety and scheduling

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and or Construction Management; 7-10+ years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.  Must have experience in Business development, Operations, managing projects and a thorough knowledge of commercial construction, safety standards, project management, and construction regulations.  Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds when maintaining records.
