SUMMARY

The Project Superintendent oversees additional Haydon Superintendents and coordinates activities of trade contractors and crews associated with the project construction. In cooperation with the Project Manager and project team ensures, at a minimum, the below objectives are achieved, including owner, architect and consultant satisfaction. Has the skillset to manage a medium sized project and team on their own in accordance with the Superintendent Matrix.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Superintendent responsibilities plus the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Planning/Scheduling
    • Develops project schedule in conjunction with General Superintendent
    • Maintain and lead the team in weekly updates in P6 including distribution to the team (owner, consultants and trade partners)
    • Compile and distribute monthly narrative to owners
    • Ensure trade partners have adequate resources to meet scheduled durations
    • Develop initial site logistics, hoisting, security, traffic, laydown, etc.
    • Coordinate all required testing, building and special inspections
    • Coordinate site mobilization
  • Safety
    • Lead and implement the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
    • Take ownership of all aspects of project safety
    • Coordinate and ensure weekly site wide safety meetings are held
    • Oversee the completion of the weekly safety audit and associated observations
  • Quality
    • Review workmanship for conformance to the contract documents and Haydon's standards
    • Document and correct deficiencies with the use of Procore observations throughout the progression of the project with timely action
    • Initiate needed field correspondence and Requests for Information
    • Hold Coordination and Work Plan Meetings between trade partners to ensure proper installation of ALL trades scope
    • Help lead and implement the Site-Specific Quality Plan (SSQP) in conjunction with the project team
  • Cost Management
    • Coordinate with the Project Manager on change orders and T&M tickets
    • Participate with project team to review and update job cost reports
    • Assist Project Manager in monthly pay app review
    • Understand and review the revenue cash flow curve with the Project Manager monthly
  • General Project Management
    • Initiate communication with the Senior and/or General Superintendent as concerns or roadblocks occur that may impact cost and/or schedule
    • Arrange any special meetings required during the project
    • Ensure that the project site and construction activities are being documented daily in writing with photos using Procore
    • Understand & comply with all authorities having jurisdiction associated with project construction
    • Hold weekly Contractor Coordination meetings and send out look ahead schedules

 

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of 7 years’ commercial construction experience or acceptable combination of a bachelor's degree and experience.  Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and plan/spec reading.  Strong problem solving, organizational skills, with effective communication. Demonstrate strong leadership ability.  Exposure/experience in working multiple discipline projects.  Strong computer skills.  Willingness to travel as required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand or walk.  The employee must reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
