The Corporate HSE Manager will have overall responsibility for corporate employee health and safety initiatives; including compliance and certification training. Additional responsibilities include assisting facility management teams with program execution and compliance, monitoring company-wide projects, and engaging with key functional business partners to improve and enhance the current HSE program. The position will support all company facilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist is development, delivery, and certification of HSE training and certification programs.
  • Create and deliver on key performance indicators.
  • Be a critical player in developing, improving, and managing the Hearthside Safety Management System
  • Collaborate with site leadership teams to implement and improve the site’s safety management system and safety culture.
  • Support incentive and recognition programs and events.
  • Assist in developing members of the field Safety team as well as provide coaching and support to leaders with critical HSE support functions.
  • Provide support during customer visits and external audits / inspections where needed.
  • Provide support to corporate safety team for performance reporting.
  • Assist in the management of the safety injury reporting process and claim management process, which includes, but is not limited to assisting investigations and performing root cause analysis to prevent further incident reoccurrences.
  • Provide technical support to continuous improvement teams as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance adherence - OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, NIOSH.
  • Periodically conduct and/or coordinate technical training (Lockout/Tagout, Active Shooter, CPR/First-Aid, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Confined Space, etc.) including competent person level training and Train-The-Trainer courses for internal trainers across the organization in collaboration with the training department.
  • Improve and develop authorized user/operator and competent person training materials for HSE compliance topics in collaboration with the training team.
  • Other duties as identified to further support the Hearthside Safety Management System and the Safety Culture.

 

Required Competencies & Knowledge:

Knowledge of: 

  • Federal, state, local HSE regulations to ensure functional and industry compliance

 

Skill in: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in environmental, health and safety systems, data analysis, risk and hazard identification, and continuous improvement required.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards and regulations is required.
  • Experience w/ Safety Management Systems and knowledge of pre-requisite programs strongly preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain harmonious relationships and effectively communicate with all internal and external customers, local and corporate-wide HFS employees is required.
  • Strong organization and prioritization of work skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including non-English and challenged literacy adult workers is required.

 

Ability to: 

  • Lead teams and influence within and outside of the Safety function
  • Provide and administrate training on topics from Powered Industrial Trucks, to First Aid, CPR, AED and other Safety-related Training
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Effectively work with all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze data and trends to develop prevention solutions
  • Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
  • Travel up to 50%

 

Proficiency in:

  • MS Office Suite
  • Benchmark Gensuite experience a plus

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety / science-related field is preferred.
  • Five (5) – Seven (7) years of related work experience, including experience managing and leading safety programs and initiatives in a food-manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Professional Safety Certification or Professional Trainer Credentials are a plus.
  • Must be detailed-oriented, have strong self-confidence and leadership skills and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to uphold Hearthside’s mission, vision and values on a daily basis.
  • If not current, will be expected to obtain “Instructor” certification for First aid, CPR, AED
