JOB SUMMARY:

Ensure that Hearthside Foods meets and exceeds quality, efficiency, cleanliness and safety goals by working cooperatively with and assisting other members of the production team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUITES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform a wide variety of manufacturing and related tasks and be responsible for the overall efficiency, quality, and safety of assigned packaging operation and personnel.
  • Responsible for work assignment, monitoring, training, recording line productivity, quality results, pallet completions, and related activities to support production activities.
  • Perform periodic product and process quality checks to ensure material is not defective or damaged and that material is appropriate to the order being processed.
  • Communicate effectively with Production Supervisor on line performance, employee performance, quality issues, and other daily needs. 
  • Perform any job duty on the line in support of line operations, to include operate, which requires a working knowledge of SAP.
  • Assist other personnel to ensure that assigned packaging line runs at maximum safety, efficiency, and quality
  • Dispose of off quality, improper product and materials and empty raw material containers in designated areas.
  • Report any issue to Production Supervisor
  • Demonstrate good judgment in safeguarding the confidentiality of customer, company, vendor, and employee information.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and the situation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Sustain plants 5-S efforts.
  • Technician will have the ability to make adjustments to all equipment on production line.
  • Technician will have the ability to trouble shoot equipment on the line and make proper adjustments to equipment when needed.
  • Have the ability to operate essentially all packaging equipment in the facility. (Horizontal, Vertical Machines, Lee Machines, Roberts, etc.).
  • Technician will have the ability to train employees to become Operators.
  • Technician will be capable of assisting maintenance with changeovers.
  • Circulate the production floor and assist any line that is struggling to run efficiently
  • Technician will assist and insure line Verifications are complete and accurate
  • Receive verbal and written instructions on type of product, specifications, rate, material, allowed variations, special requirements and changeovers from Production Supervisor or other authorized personnel. 
  • Perform visual quality check of raw, packaging, and finished product to ensure that they are not damaged, defective, are properly marked and otherwise meet specifications.  Remove product and containers failing to meet specifications.
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary, or required by the Production Supervisor and Plant Operations Manager.
  • Willingness to work overtime when asked.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and productive relationship with co-workers and others with whom the position may have contact.
  • Willingness to work as a team member and help out where needed to ensure maximum process efficiency, which includes working on a line as needs dictate.

AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

  • The Production Technician has the accountability for verifying that the product they produced is made in accordance with the production Work Order.
  • The Production Technician has the authority to stop a line if an unsafe condition exists.
  • The Production Technician has authorization to enter guard areas, it is their responsibly to perform Safety & in accordance with Safety Rules.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES & KNOWLEDGE

            Education Requirements:

  • Required – None    
  • Preferred - High School Diploma or equivalent.   

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Required - One or more years of experience working in Factory.
  • Preferred – One to two years of Operator Experience.

 

            Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

  • Receive verbal and written instructions
  • Basic Math skills, Addition, Subtraction, Division, Multiplication
  • Ability to work well with a wide variety of people

 

Work Environment:

  • Work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Work will be done in a non-climate-controlled production area.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work performed exclusively while standing and frequent walking of distances from 5 to 15 feet.
  • Frequent lifting of weights 10 to 30 pounds from floor level to mid chest level.
  • Frequent grasping requiring use of both arms.
  • Frequent bending (knee) required to pick up raw materials.
  • Frequent pulling (pulling skids to location, rolling hand jack with/without product to location).
  • The ability to climb platforms using ladders.
  • The ability to clearly see type faces of less than 6-point typeface in various colors; high degree of visual acuity to spot color changes, product defects.
