Job Summary:

The Plant Sanitation Lead is responsible for executing the Sanitation program, and for ensuring that all current Food Safety Standards are being met throughout the site.  The Sanitation lead will train and develop production employees to be able to identify and control GMP issues and to enforce all current food safety standards.  The Sanitation Lead will be responsible for communicating in a clear manner any Sanitation issues to the Sanitation Manager, Plant Manager, and/or all the Production and Sanitation Staff.

 

Job Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Ensures that employees all sanitation employees are practicing safe chemical handling, PPE use, and human safety issues related to sanitation activities;
    • Assist in the development of and maintenance of Sanitation programs (FSMA, MSS, etc.) for a variety of products in compliance with customer and government regulations.
    • Assist with consumer complaint issues and lead plant teams in the direction necessary to minimize complaints.
    • Assist with the development of Sanitation procedures and paperwork.
    • Work with the Sanitation Team in identifying sanitation or regulation issues at assigned facility.
    • Ensure that the facility is ready for Third Party, Customer or Regulatory inspections.
    • Assist with policy, procedures and paperwork to ensure that all Company and Customer standards are achieved in assigned plant.
    • Provide an atmosphere that allows for the development of contract workers (if applicable)
    • Assist with the management of the Master Sanitation Schedule.
    • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities of facility sanitation.
    • Perform pre-operational inspections.
    • Maintain supply inventories.
    • Work with the Quality Assurance Department to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues at assigned facility.
    • Responsible for the dilution testing of all chemicals as required.
    • Train employees under their leadership in the proper sanitation methods.
    • Other duties as identified or assigned by Sanitation Manager.

 

Required Competencies & Knowledge:

    • Must understand the seven steps of cleaning and sanitizing for wet or dry facilities
    • Must understand the Master Sanitation Plan for the facility
    • Must have a good understanding of plant GMPs.
    • Must have a complete understanding of the use of PPE, chemical safety, wheeled and other machinery used to access plant areas.

Skill in: 

    • Demonstrated good record in handling conflicts with positive and practical attitude.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer literate, self-motivated and able to make sound food safety decisions.
    • Excellent attendance.

Ability to: 

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
    • Work in a fast-paced environment
    • Must have a strong working relationships with the Sanitation Supervisor, Sanitation Manager and Quality Assurance Manager

 

Work Environment:

    • Work is primarily done in a production environment.
    • Frequent production environment exposure includes noise, dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, water, chemicals, and fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

    • 2-3 year in a sanitation or food safety role.
    • Proficiency in Excel and Email Correspondence
