Summer 2025 - Property Management Internship

Internship Title:  Summer 2025 - Property Management Internship

 

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Internship Program is for 10 weeks and in five different locations around the Unites States. Throughout this period, you will have the exciting opportunity to live in a fully furnished apartment at the specified property, with all rent and utility expenses covered. Additionally, you will be able to participate in internship events at our headquarters, with travel expenses fully covered. As an intern, you'll gain valuable experience by immersing yourself in the daily routines of key roles, including the Regional Manager, Property Manager, Assistant Property Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and Maintenance Technician. Working under the guidance of the property manager, you will acquire essential skills for resident interactions, shadow the leasing staff, and participate in tours with potential prospects. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the 2025 Capstone Project and have the opportunity to engage in the Future Housing Leaders program.

 

Internships will be available in the following departments: 

 

Marketing

  • Assist with compelling content creation to promote life in the community on various social media platforms.
  • Assist with planning and execution of resident- and prospect-focused events.
  • Assist with reputation management initiatives and campaigns.
  • Participate in outreach to local businesses to establish cross-promotion opportunities.
  • Provide market insights through market research such as local market surveys, social media, reviews, and community interactions to inform marketing strategies and identify areas of opportunity. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for creating engaging virtual tours of the community to showcase amenities and apartment features.
  • Explore opportunities for targeted advertising in local publications, online platforms, and community bulletin boards.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with local real estate influencers to amplify the community’s reach and enhance brand awareness.

 

Leasing

  • Assist in leasing apartments, maintaining list of available apartments, responding to telephone inquiries, qualifying prospects, showing apartments, preparing all move-in paperwork, and accurately inputting traffic numbers daily.   
  • Participate in follow-up with prospective residents; through telephone call within 24 hours, follow up card within 48 hours and repetition of same, if necessary. 
  • Assist with inspecting the apartment with the new resident, filling out move in inspection forms, reviewing all leasing paperwork and property rules. 
  • Obtain knowledge in the management of renewals, tracking lease expirations, recording notices to vacate and interviewing residents for reason, preparing lease expiration letters and renewal leases. 
  • Participate in collecting and accurately processing and report receipt of application fees, security deposits, rents and other fees. 
  • Obtain knowledge to comply with all Fair Housing regulations, Tax Compliance regulations, and other laws as they relate to property specific guidelines and occupancy standards. 
  • Assist in planning and preparation of resident functions. 
  • Obtain knowledge in recording and acting on resident service requests, ensuring excellent customer service with same day or maximum 24 hour follow up. 
  • Assist in answering the phone and use courteous and professional communication with all customers.

  • Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited Property Management/Real Estate/Marketing or similar Program
  • Available for a 10-week internship commitment from June to August 
  • Willing to travel for both the Kick-Off and Capstone events 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team  
  • Strong attention to detail, follow up and overseeing projects through completion  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint is a plus  
  • Relevant experience, including internships, in real estate is a plus  
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills, both verbal and written
