ASATS (Adult Substance Abuse Treatment Services) was first established in 1996 as a managed care program for providing, culturally and linguistically proficient outpatient substance abuse services in Santa Clara County. ASATS initially specialized in treatment services for the Asian and Pacific Islander (A/PI) communities, but has proven to be effective in working with diverse communities at large. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing both individual and group supervision to the clinicians providing direct services to the adult substance use treatment clients. This position includes training and supporting the development of skills to both new and existing staff/interns in evidenced based practices and interventions. Also responsible for ensuring that all appropriate professional standards, licensing/certification, and clinical grant requirements are met. This candidate MUST be licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) a minimum of 2 years and qualified per BBS standards to provide clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultural Competence: Knowledge of culturally responsive treatment interventions; expected to role model cultural humility and consideration of the world views of our diverse client base; contribute to a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic facility that values the uniqueness of our target populations. Ability to work with a diverse population while withholding judgment. Willingly open to learn and understand different perspectives.
  • Ensures treatment is in accordance with contracts clinical expectations and client centered approach. Will work with Directors and Managers in ensuring compliance with internal and external contract requirements including data integrity, clinical records review/utilization reviews, and clinical performance measures. Participation in the recommendations, design and implementation of evidence based models and best practices. Must be available for rotation of handling after-hours crisis line.
  • Provides individual and group clinical supervision as required by BBS and other certification bodies of staff (ie: registered and certified substance abuse counselor roles). Responsible for the documentation of all Clinical Supervision meetings (groups and individuals).
  • Provides regular on-site/virtual trainings for employees and interns. Must be available afterhours to respond to facility or clinical emergencies, outstanding crisis or events precipitating an incident report.
  • Responsible for the development and supervision of the Adult Department Intern Program in SCC. Will assist with Youth Department Interns on an as needed basis.  Will actively recruit for interns, serve as a contact to schools, and will carry Field Instructor duties (ie. Hours sign-offs; development of intern contract, provide weekly supervision as described in agreement with the schools, and completion of student evaluations).  
  • Responsible for quality assurance in EMR, and ensuring thorough clinical documentation standards set by State and County are met.  Takes the lead on Quality Records Reviews and Peer Chart Review  processes. In accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360, ensures compliance with codes and regulations for behavioral health programs.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • California state license (posts 2 years) in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapist with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • Completion of required Clinical Supervision Certification per BBS requirements.
  • At least five years of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • First Aid Certified within 60 days of employment.
  • CPR Certified within 60 days of employment.

 Desired

  •  Licensed professional with additional certification in Addiction Counseling.
