VP, Application Architecture and Development

This position is primarily responsible for assisting in the strategy and execution ofthe company’s comprehensive technology strategy. Strategic initiatives will be focused on driving departmental objectives, which include evaluating the company’s operational systems and assisting in the implementation of a data management strategy.

The VP, Application Architecture and Development will actively engage with senior leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify and suggest modifications to improve accuracy and consistency of Inland’s applications. This position will lead the application development team and ensure successful delivery of high-quality software solutions that align with business objectives. This role will oversee all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, and work closely with cross-functional agile teams to drive innovation and operational efficiency. This role requires outstanding communications skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with individuals at all levels of the firm.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive enterprise technology strategy aligned with organizational objectives.
• Lead a team of application developers, architects, and QA engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and execute the application development strategy, aligning it with the overall business goals and objectives.
• Implement agile methodologies and best practices to optimize development processes and improve time-to-market.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
• Communicate the value of IT investments to stakeholders and demonstrate the impact of application development initiatives on business outcomes.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering their growth and career advancement.

• Iterates solutions through an adaptive-agile cycle; works with team members to resolve any issues.

• Demonstrate the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, adhere to company’s policies and procedures, and comply with applicable laws, government rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information management, or related field.
• Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience/Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• 7+ years of experience in financial services, alternatives, private equity and/or real estate, with associated knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends and the ability to apply this knowledge to Inland’s operational/business needs.
• Proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex software projects.
• Expertise in modern application development frameworks, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum, DevOps).
• Strong technical background, with hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
• Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities for innovation, and drive business value through technology.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Strong technical and business analysis skills. Must be driven and focused on business outcomes and delivery of business value.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
• Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
• Expertise in development programing languages such as Visual Studio .net, C#, and Java.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in business.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook are required for this position.
• Experience with eFront, Yardi, Salesforce, HubSpot, Dealpath, SQL, Power BI, Jira, or ServiceNow is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud computing, microservices, and containerization technologies is a plus.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification is preferred.
• Additional certifications in Agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe, Kanban) are a plus.
