Position Summary

Responsible for assuring product quality through adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), inspection, documentation, statistical techniques and testing and measuring equipment. Supports Automation, Maintenance and Process departments.

 Primary Functions

  • Troubleshoots automation issues and works with Maintenance, Automation and suppliers to get equipment on line and/or repaired in a timely and cost efficient manner.
  • Inspects and documents results for assembled product for compliance with customer-specified requirements. Communicate any non-conforming instances to shift QA or representative.
  • Helps run the automation equipment. Responds to red lights, maintains the hopper levels for the individual components, packages product as specified and covers breaks. Moves finished product from the assembly area, wraps the product and places the shrink wrapped skids into the designated area.
  • Maintains documentation as required to comply with Customer and company quality standards.
  • Understands and demonstrates knowledge of all testing and measuring equipment used in the Quality and Manufacturing departments.
  • Works with QA Technician II to determine the status of materials and release for use if acceptable and/or initiate nonconforming material.
  • Assists Manufacturing and Engineering personnel with product samples, protocols, and designed experiments by providing accurate and timely inspection, testing, and documentation of finished product and/or tool components.
  • Assures all non-conforming materials are properly, identified, isolated, and dispositioned.
  • Ensures production staff are qualified in the inspection of parts.
  • Supports the QMS by adhering to the system requirements.
  • Understands and follows plant safety rules.  Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern.  Assists in monitoring of quality of work output.
  • Maintains compliance with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to direct Supervisor. 
  • Maintains good working relations with all other employees.  Strives to have no conflicts with other employees.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of all currently used statistical techniques, testing and measuring equipment to further the prevention-based quality system.
  • Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize CIM.
  • General understanding of the injection molding process as to how it affects the integrity and quality of the parts produced.
  • General mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of electrical and pneumatic components and their operation.
  • Self-motivated to learn and perform job tasks to meet or exceed customer and company expectations.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to work at an efficient rate to meet production goals and standards.
  • Effectively communicates with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts, as applicable.

 Physical Requirements:

 Environment: Normal manufacturing environments; work with machinery and media in or around confined spaces; exposure to chemicals, grease and oils.  Sitting at a desk or workstation approximately 40 percent of the work time.  Standing and walking approximately 60 percent of the time.

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform light lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing for prolonged periods of time.  May be required to push or pull up to 100 lbs. pounds.  Must be able to routinely climb/descend stairs, ladders, and similar elevations.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer

screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Other: Travel by automobile and commercial transportation.  Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
