How you can make a bigger difference: 

 

The Kaplan House (Manhattan) provides therapeutic and support services to adolescent’s ages 17-21 who are referred to us through ACS and the Juvenile Justice system. Our residents have experienced significant trauma, resulting in behavioral, emotional, and functional/ development issues. Kaplan House offers an extensive independent living skills program, including vocational preparation, and educational services that assists youth towards reaching independence.

 

The Team Leader is a vital part of Milieu Team. The Team Leader at Kaplan House works in collaboration with the Senior Team Leader to supervise the Direct Support Professional staff.  The Team Leader is the functional supervisor of the program and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility. Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Provide supervision in collaboration with the Senior Team Leader of Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff within the facility and ensure appropriate program coverage.
  • Provides direct care staff training and orientation.
  • Participates in weekly treatment team meetings, administrator meetings, staff meetings, and individual supervision of the Direct Support Professional staff. 
  • Facilitates DSP Staff meetings in collaboration with the Senior Team Leader
  • Complete weekly Direct Support Professional staff schedule two weeks in advance to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Oversee and monitor DSP engagement with the residents to ensure they are assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Skills as well as Independent Living Skills.
  • Act as integral part of the Direct Support Professional interviewing process and provide strong input into final hiring recommendations.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Team Leader, Assistant Director, and HR for disciplinary actions of staff.
  • Meet regularly with the clinical and nursing staff, advising them of any change in client's behavior or specific needs that the client may be exhibiting.
  • Participate in the Meet & Greet and intake process for new referrals.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters in Human Services or related field preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience working with at risk youth, preferably in a residential setting
  • A current, valid and clean Driver’s license is required for this position
