Summary/Purpose

The Team Leader is responsible for maintaining all die types, fixtures and spray heads for the Die Cast facility, assisting them in producing high quality finished goods that meet or exceed our customer’s specification.  This position is responsible for ensuring their team complies with all JTEKT procedures and policies.  The Team Leader generates records of each die, files records and maintains activity boards.  The Team Leader is also responsible for scheduling manpower; safety; quality; meeting production targets; time keeping; filling in for Specialist’s in the area; communicating with the Supervisor and other shifts; conducting daily FMDS meetings; conducting team meetings; and monitoring standard work.  First Responder.

Starting Rate - $28.09 (includes DC Premium + Shift Premium)

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Regular and punctual attendance is required.

• Willing and able to work any shift.
• Must be able to comprehend English and follow direction from JTEKT supervisor and/or manager.
• Inspect all safety equipment prior to production start-up.
• Die repair/maintenance and maintenance repair procedure development.
• Die parts failure mode investigating.
• Die parts inventory management.
• Line support/die maintenance improvement activities.
• Die maintenance team member time allocation and reports (work orders/maintenance/floor support, etc.) and timekeeping for team members.
• Die maintenance throughput.
• Measure components to verify correct replacement.
• Perform minor preventative machine maintenance such as oiling machines and dies and do all necessary cleaning on equipment and work area.
• Project a positive outlook in conversation and conduct.
• Able to work in a fast paced team environment without direct supervision.
• Must be able to demonstrate proper use of all tools in the area.
• Able to achieve forklift certification and drive proficiently, as determined is needed by our business demands.
• Must complete First Responder Training (including First Aid, CPR and Blood-borne Pathogens).
• May perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has supervisory responsibilities for the hourly positions within the area.

• Communication Skills – ability to read or listen & comprehend and write & present information in English.
• Mathematical Skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Reasoning Ability – ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Preferred prior experience in Die Casting at JATM.
• Mechanical and Technical knowledge is required.
• Must complete a blueprint work book.
• Successful completion of the JTEKT Technician B Certification Program is required.

• Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• The Team Leader works an 8 hour shift and overtime is required, as needed.  Overtime may be required with very short notice.  The Team Leader is required to stand a minimum of 5 hours per shift; walk a minimum of 2 hours per shift; sit a minimum of 1 hour per shift; use hands to grasp and handle parts a minimum of 2 hours per shift; reach with both hands and arms repetitively; use fine finger dexterity a minimum of 4 hours per shift; talk and hear.  The Team Leader must regularly lift and/or move 40 – 50 lbs. up to 4 times per shift.  Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
