Summary/Purpose

This position is for a driven individual to be the lead in Machine Alignment. The chosen candidate must have a strong

desire to learn, adjust and adapt to several different tasks daily. You should possess a self-starting work ethic.

• Lead all machine alignments on machining/grinding equipment and assembly processes.
• Assemble machinery using verbal instructions, blueprints, and photos.
• Common knowledge of shop tools and operations including hand tools, drilling, tapping, milling, and grinding.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints associated with manufacturing and Machine alignment prints.
• Ability to disassemble machinery, clean and reassemble in a timely matter. Must have the ability to align Machines and Tooling.
• Extensive knowledge of precision instruments and measuring devices.
• Interfaces with customers and vendors as needed.
• Travel as needed to other JTEKT facilities for installation or service.

• Design and execute trials to reduce cost: scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, Gentani, and short stop reduction.
• Support Maintenance and Manufacturing as required on breakdowns, startups, and set-ups.
• Recommend and assist in creation of effective set-up and maintenance procedures.
• Investigate and formulate actions to mitigate “why make” side of quality flow-out issues.
• Participate in new program manufacturing planning reviews.
• Plan and execute process development trials to achieve initial process capability.
• Support manufacturing improvement and Kaizen teams.
• Work daily/weekend overtime when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned to achieve departmental objectives provided.
• Create detailed documentation for machine alignments and process controls.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. But will aid in Training/Mentoring current setup techs and engineers.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Proficiency with CNC controls, G&M, Macro programming, tooling geometry, machine tool processes and fixture design.
2. Proficient with GD&T and Blueprint reading and creation.
3. Proficiency with automated, semi-automated, and manual automotive assembly equipment and cell design.
4. Sound understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical circuits and controls.
5. Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously.
6. Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.
7. PLC programming experience and robot programming experience desired.
8. Manual machining experience with Grinders, Lathes, and Mills

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must have 8 years of Machine alignment or Machine Building experience.

Journeyman machinist preferred but not required.

 The above may be modified by the department Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Able to walk approximately 3 – 7 miles per day.
• Perform repetitive motions while walking or standing.
• Stand/walk for duration of shift.
• Visually check for minute details when performing quality checks, detect color
• Able to lift thirty-five pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
