Description:

Outside field work that supports the maintenance of high-quality grass forage for Kualoa Ranch cattle operations, supports the silvopasture program (native forestry trees such as Koas outplanted and maintained in pastures), and aids the Stewardship and Livestock department as needed. Work is conducted in Hakipuʻu, Kualoa and Kaʻaʻawa ahupuaʻa. Main duties include conducting herbicide sprays across grass pastures targeting broadleaf weeds, and removing undesirable weeds in pastures manually, with small engine equipment, or with herbicides. Responsibilities also include establishing desirable forage in new areas (sowing or planting grass). Silvopasture work includes preparing planting sites for trees, constructing and maintaining small fences around trees and maintaining trees (trimming and weeding). Staff will maintain equipment and an organized workspace. Physical demands include working outdoors in sometimes hot weather in full PPE for activities such as: sprays (including respirator) small engine equipment use, weeding, fencing. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting physical work outside day-to-day.
  • Valid driver’s license and abstract that meets company’s requirements and ability to safely drive 4x4 vehicle offroad.
  • Working knowledge of small engine equipment and maintenance such as but not limited to: weedwackers and chainsaws.
  • Ability to learn (on the job trainings provided for safe herbicide use, transport and storage, pasture weed and native plant identification, GPS device use, etc.)
  • Must be able to able to fully understand instructions to execute the tasks required to achieve goals set by the manager.
  • Must have physical coordination and ability for activities such as fencing, and spraying on steeper slopes and uneven, often rocky ground in the sun.

Schedule: 
Full-time.  Open availability to include weekends and holidays required.
