BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The main function is to support Kubota in development of new off-road equipment, attachments, implements, and accessories for the North American market.  The candidate will report industry standards and regulatory information to various Kubota groups and provide the Kubota position on those topics.  The candidate will also review manuals and marketing materials, and assist with writing and executing test procedures. 

 

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:  This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines:

  • Lead compliance reviews of prototypes by reviewing the machines to the applicable standards, regulations, and product compliance requirements.
  • Track new and ongoing standards and regulations for their impact on Kubota products and business.
  • Attend industry compliance meetings as an active member, leader, and/or attendee, including groups such as: ASABE, SAE, OPEI, ISO, IEC, AEM, etc.  This candidate will provide input from, and feedback to, Kubota, reflecting the cumulative thoughts and beliefs of this company. This candidate is expected to lead standards development projects that are important to Kubota. 
  • Mentor and educate other Kubota employees on product compliance and machine applications.
  • Perform liaison duties with International R&D teams within Kubota to ensure timely information flow.
  • Submit applications to various government agencies to be compliant under each machine category.
  • Oversee and lead reviews of owners/operator’s manuals and other product literature to meet the most current industry practices and standards.
  • Prepare and assist with tests for prototype equipment (both Kubota and competitive) being developed. Maintain records of tests and prepare reports on machine performance to evaluate equipment.  This may include setting up and monitoring third party testing.
  • Utilize equipment to support design verification/validation methods and participate in equipment demonstrations at corporate sales and dealer meetings.
  • Assist the Kubota legal team with standards and regulatory information.  Provide an engineering mindset/background to assist that team in understanding of machine and equipment design.
  • Attend trade shows, conduct field visits, and use other available resources to research/ evaluate new products and industry changes/trends for analysis of performance.  Support other teams in providing information and correct product information to dealers, conduct presentations, and solicit feedback on new products.
  • Order parts, purchase/rent and ship equipment to all Kubota affiliates as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering department required; agricultural, mechanical, or related preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience dealing with regulatory bodies such as US EPA, OSHA, CARB, etc. required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in off-road or other mobile machinery design and/or compliance required.  At least 3 years of experience in product compliance required.
  • Must be able to work independently and anticipate requirements of many different people in fast-paced, cross-functional, international environment.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate Kubota and competitive equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability to use test equipment and tools.
  • May require mechanical skills in equipment assembly, repair, and ability to read schematics.
  • Experience with off-road mobile machinery automation, electric powered vehicles, and/or chemical compliance a plus    
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATION (% of time, description, nature of service):

  • Office equipment including computer, copier, printer (~80%, typical operation)
  • Off-road mobile machinery, attachments, implements, tools for assembly/installation/repair (~10%, highly varied operation)

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to mount, dismount, and operate off-road mobile machinery. 
  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 Lbs.
