A New Leaf continues to grow to respond to needs in our community by developing comprehensive, relevant and effective services for vulnerable and underserved families, children, and adults.

 

A New Leaf's licensed and accredited 24-hour youth shelter for children (ages 12-17) that offer specialized case management for the purpose of family reunification. Meals, education and warm place to sleep are provided along with activities to keep the children’s spirits up and deliver round-the-clock care.

Our dedicated staff provide a safe and stable environment in which to foster the optimal growth and development of each child. Supporting objectives include improved physical/Mental health, improved education/vocation skill development and timely family reunification and/or release planning. 

We are searching for a full time Lead Teacher to be a part of the already amazing and dedicated team.

 

Salary: $57,200

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm 

Location: Mesa, AZ

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
  • Certification by the relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body and additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children.
  • Spanish language skills required 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of two-years teaching experience required. 
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Basic computer literacy; including, navigating a Microsoft Windows operating system, Outlook email exchange, and online applications. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide educational services and assessments, including curriculum building meeting Flores standards for education requirements.
  • Implement teacher designed lesson plans and exhibit collaboration between other teachers and members of the support staff/treatment team.
  • Administer academic assessments, track progress, and maintain accurate educational records.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques and ensure the security of all educational/testing instruments.
  • Responsible for all teaching duties including supervision of students during non- academic times; including, lunch period and stress relief.
  • Responsible to complete all paperwork required by the school and ORR program.
  • Attend/complete all require trainings and meetings.
  • Meet with the Program Manager to ensure program fidelity and adherence to the ANL and ORR mission and values.
  • Ensure Manager is informed of critical concerns in a timely manner and request assistance as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and share information on a "need to know" basis only.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with teachers and teacher’s aides. 

Compliance Requirements:

  • Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card 
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation 
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance 
  • 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record 
  • Must Be at Least 21 Years of Age
  • Must be able to pass various background checks
  • Must be able to provide proof of Immunizations (Varicella, MMR, TDAP & Flu)
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
