Regional MDS Support Nurse

JOB SUMMARY

The MDS Support Nurse is involved in training, auditing, coordinating/assisting with the completion and submission of accurate and timely interdisciplinary MDS assessments, CAAs, and Care Plans according to CMS RAI Manual Regulations and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Legacy standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform focused audits related to accuracy, completion and submission of MDS documents.
• Complete MDS assessments as needed for times of absence or open position and/or increased workload needs of facility MDS department
• Assists Clinical Payment Specialist in implementation of new initiatives, development of MDS Coordinators, and training staff on key components of documentation.
• Assists in orientation, as assigned, of new MDS coordinators and members of the interdisciplinary team relation to the MDS process.
• Assists in the completion of ADRs/Medical record requests by government and third-party payors
•  Attends PPS and CMI facility meetings for the purpose of evaluating and enhancing the facility level process and standards.

        
QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
• Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment
• At least 2 years’ experience as an MDS RN Coordinator with demonstrated working knowledge of MDS 3.0 RAI manual and requirements and associated update and clarifications.
•  Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing and possess good communication skills with administration, medical staff, nursing personnel and other departmental personnel.
• Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. and follow through, that are necessary for producing timely and accurate coding
