SUMMARY

Directs LISI Aerospace Garden Grove Facility Manufacturing Engineering Department in all areas including but not limited to product validation, project/program management, provides technical expertise and support to all manufacturing and support departments via supervision of technical staff. Initiates and implements the development optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Oversee manufacturing engineering team to achieve manufacturing efficiencies and cost reductions through improved methods and new technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and oversees the daily function of the Manufacturing Engineering Department

 

  • Leads and develops manufacturing engineers and other associated employees.

 

  • Manages, delegates, and plans the workload and achievement of tasks/deadlines

 

  • Oversees the action plan for each area and is ultimately responsible for ensuring deadlines and commitment to internal and external customers are met

 

  • Interfaces with internal and external customers to provide information on current projects and products.

 

  • Ensures Engineering Support and guidance is provided to all company functions, e.g. Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Sales to facilitate production assuring product integrity and honoring customer delivery requirements.

 

  • Resolves manufacturing engineering related problems using new techniques, technologies, or concepts.

 

  • Analyzes technology trends and market demand to plan projects.

 

 

  • Travel may be required (national and international) to solve and analyze customer requirements and/or product issues

 

  • Confers with management, production, Product Engineering, and sales staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

 

 

  • Forecasts operating costs of department and provides necessary information for budget requests.

 

  • Provides timely communication to management and internal/external customers on developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter- departmental relations.

 

  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies, which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

 

  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

 

  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results

 

  • Evaluates and engages in projects that would reduce hazardous waste and assists in the implementation of Environmental improvements. Such as, implementing and suggesting waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.

 

  • Coaches assigned staff for improved performance, identifies and develops high potential employees, conducts performance evaluations, progressive counseling and recommends compensation increases within company policies and procedures.

 

  • Ensure all people placed under their assigned area of responsibility, or all persons who may be affected by equipment or processes placed under their responsibility are complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local and State government, and LISI Aerospace policies, procedures and plans.

 

  • Responsible for and ensuring that all employees attend company provided training and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.

 

  • Responsible for ensuring employees in assigned area are aware of their requirement to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Directly or indirectly responsible for the performance of all direct reports. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Education and/or Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering from and accredited four-year University or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master in Science or Business preferred.
  • Five or more years Design Engineering/ Project Management or Product Engineering in a high volume environment
  • Participation in professional organizations a plus
  • Leadership experience or equivalent transferable experience a plus
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as TC20/SC4.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, to listen and gets clarification, to respond well to questions, to demonstrate group presentation skills and to participate in meetings.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define issues and root cause of problems, collect / analyze data, establish facts, and validate conclusions. Must be able to present problem resolution with valid data. Requires the ability to interpret complex and varied technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form dealing with several concurrent abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ERP System, Design Systems, Document Control systems. Intermediate level or above in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
