Research Technician (Myers Lab)
The Myers Lab and the Laboratory for Immunochemical Circuits at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (https://www.samyerslab.org/) is looking for a highly motivated Research Technician to develop and apply A) in vitro and in vivo immunology approaches to address CD4+ T cell differentiation and function and/or B) molecular biology and genomic engineering to address fundamental yet elusive questions in immune cell activation and differentiation, autoimmunity and inflammation, and cancer immunology. In addition to projects in our lab, we are a collaborative group, both within the institute and around the world, so you will be exposed to many different scientific fields and gain expertise in several applications of biochemistry and immunology. This position will provide you with opportunities for publications, as well as presentations internally and at scientific conferences.
Qualified candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology-related fields, or any of the Life Sciences
- >2 years of research experience and knowledge of basic laboratory techniques
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and an attention to details
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn and develop laboratory skills
Strong candidates will have one or more of the following:
- Experience with primary mouse or human immune cells culture
- Experience with flow cytometry staining, data acquisition and analysis
- Knowledge and experience in animal laboratory science and/or experience working with mice (tissue/organ harvesting, etc.)
- Experience with biochemistry and/or molecular biology (molecular cloning/CRISPR/base editing, etc.)
- Experience with using different software suites or programming languages to analyze data (Prism, R, Python, etc)
- Experience with genomics, proteomics, and/or systems biology, a.k.a. large-scale data sets
