Lynden Logistics is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Specialist to support our Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) team. This role offers a great opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team to help ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations across our service centers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative and Operational Support: Provide assistance to the Director of HSSE and field managers in applying and executing safety policies, and offer support for daily activities and special projects related to company safety.
  • Training Coordination: Help coordinate service center safety education and training programs, including new hire orientations. Training may cover hazardous materials handling, forklift operation, cargo securement, and environmental management.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain and organize safety records, including training files, accident reports, OSHA logs, and driver qualification files. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.
  • Audit Support: Assist with service center audits and safety inspections, including monthly terminal inspections and identifying potential hazards.
  • Safety Program Compliance: Help implement safety programs such as the Fit for Work program, background checks, and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Federal Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and maintain accurate driver qualification files.
  • Travel and Inspections: This position will involve traveling (25-50%) to various service centers, including in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, to assist with inspections, audits, and training.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: 3 years of related experience in safety, logistics, or administrative support. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in reading safety regulations, writing reports, and conducting safety training sessions.
    • Strong math skills for calculating percentages, proportions, and other figures.
    • Ability to apply common sense to solve problems and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: 25-50% per year.
  • This position is based at the Anchorage Service Center but includes responsibilities across Lynden’s entire network, including Canada and Puerto Rico.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are required
