Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in asphalt paving projects to join our team. This role involves overseeing asphalt paving operations and other heavy civil road and airport projects. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of asphalt mix designs and all aspects of asphalt paving, from plant production and hauling to lay-down and compaction, as well as milling operations. This position requires handling multiple projects simultaneously, with 70% fieldwork and 30% office work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage multiple projects concurrently.

- Report directly to the President.

- Plan for equipment, materials, and manpower needs for projects.

- Maintain site safety and quality control records.

- Assist in project estimating during fieldwork assignments.

- Understand and work with project plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and other project-related documents.

- Ensure timely project completion through effective scheduling and expediting material deliveries.

- Meet all safety and Equal Employment Opportunity requirements.

- Proactively identify and solve problems to minimize risk.

- Develop and mentor subordinates for successful career growth.

- Oversee retail gravel and HMA operations.

- Schedule equipment and manpower based on customer needs.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Minimum of five years of experience as a manager with a focus on asphalt paving construction. Federal construction experience is a plus.

- Familiarity with Federal and State specifications.

- Ability to interpret blueprints and manage profit/loss responsibilities.

- Comprehensive understanding of construction techniques.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Organized, dependable, proactive, and punctual.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse personality types.

- Flexible and willing to work from various job sites, primarily in remote Alaska.

- Demonstrated success in managing large construction projects.

- Thorough understanding of civil construction materials and associated quality control.
