Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. We conduct operations within Alaska as around the world, utilizing our fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Lynden Air Cargo is looking for an experienced mechanic who is able to diagnose problems, determine solutions, and complete work on Company ground support equipment.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Performing all work assigned in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo's Employee Handbook, LAC GMM, applicable CFR's, Manufacturer’s recommendations, Company preferences and needs, on all ground support equipment.   
  • Recording all work performed on the appropriate forms.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete all duties and tasks independently and with limited supervision.
  • Assuming responsibility for the work he/she performs.
  • Reporting any abnormal conditions or discrepancies to appropriate Lead A&P Mechanic, Maintenance Personnel Coordinator or GSE Manager and lockout/tagout equipment as needed.
  • Ensuring completion of Company GSE preventative maintenance program.
  • Performing and/or scheduling any required inspections (de-ice truck boom – NDT).
  • Purchasing and maintaining all GSE inventory per Supervisor’s direction and approval.
  • Providing monthly expenditure report and forecast to Supervisor, to include retaining all receipts and invoices for Company purchases.
  • Making recommendations in regard to future GSE attrition related needs.
  • May travel globally, as needed, to support LAC’s fleet.
  • Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum five years maintenance experience, two of which can be applicable college/technical training.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including, but not limited to, maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current US Driver License

Current US Passport preferred

ASE Certifications preferred

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience on but not limited to; aircraft de-ice trucks, ground air-start carts, DC & AC Power carts, aircraft push-back tugs & other Aviation related ground support equipment is preferred.

Experience on medium and light duty trucks as well as small engines is preferred.

Experience on fabrication and welding is preferred.

Manual dexterity and accuracy required.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must furnish all hand tools of the variety and quantity required to perform assigned tasks.

Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time. 

Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is often very loud.
