Lynden Logistics, Inc. is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and self-motivated to join our dynamic freight operations team. This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of employees in the warehouse operation by performing duties either personally or through subordinates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and enforces operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of shipments and keeping of warehouse activities.
  • Designs, develops, and implements contract logistics solutions to satisfy warehousing, order fulfillment and distribution requirements of customers.                                                    .
  • Monitors the assignment of duties to warehouse personnel including loading and unloading of trucks, cargo check-in, cargo staging, delivery to and retrieval of shipments from air and surface vendors, etc.
  • Responsible for station security and for ensuring proper maintenance of all security equipment.      
  • Supports training procedures and programs on warehouse procedures, how to operate warehouse equipment and materials handling vehicles, Dangerous Goods, AES, and TSA compliance.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of warehouse supplies.
  • Ensures dock area and warehouse area is SAFE, orderly, clean and free of debris.
  • Maintains maintenance programs for all warehouse equipment and vehicles.
  • Schedules team briefings at least monthly to promote effective communications and employee feedback.
  • Ensures continuous process improvement to increase efficiencies, reduce waste and improve service.
  • Maintains employee records and ensures scheduled employee performance reviews are conducted.
  • Oversees all ground operation related to loading and unloading of aircraft.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

General supervision, training, and direction of warehouse personnel. Performs leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, including discussions leading to termination; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four years related warehouse experience, leadership, delegation, and motivational skills.  

 

OTHER SKILLS

  • High proficiency in supply chain concepts and principles including warehouse and distribution experience.
  • Business and personal computers skills and associated business software, including WMS.
  • Proficiency with warehouse design and layout. Forklift operations and other materials handling equipment.
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOT Medical Card, required to drive and operate vehicles over 10,000 GVW.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, direct and indirect reports. Effectively communicate through company email correspondences.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use standard mix of office and warehouse equipment. Full range of vision required. Frequently required to lift 50 lbs or more.

Must be able to pass Security Threat Assessment under TSA regulations.

 

Ability to possess and maintain a TSA Security Threat Assessment(STA) with a status of Passed, or a TSA recognized equivalent. TSA recognized equivalents include a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, Commercial Driver’s License(CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement issued within the 50 States or District of Columbia, the Transportation Worker Identification Card(TWIC), or Free and Secure Trade(FAST) card issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. STA’s will be submitted by Lynden International upon job offer and renewed thereafter. Recognized equivalents must be current at time of application and successfully renewed by the applicant thereafter.
