The Painter (Substitute) at The Lexington Hotel is responsible for performing all work necessary to keep the hotel’s walls, ceilings, and floor finish in excellent conditions.
 
Responsibilities:  
•Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to property walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers while maintaining property color scheme specifications
•Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats
•Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting
•Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper for protection during painting and post appropriate paint signs
•Clean up and store paint and painting tools and equipment in appropriate areas
•Coordinate with vendors to modify colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil, thinning, and drying additives to obtain desired colors and consistencies
•Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
•Ensure that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA and EPA approved containment devices 
•Actively listen and respond positively to guest questions, concerns, and requests using brand or property specific process to resolve issues, and build trust
•Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible
•Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate, and professional language
•Exchange information with other team members using electronic devices
•Additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements:
•Technical, Trade, or Vocational school degree or equivalent work-related experience
•Excellent communication skills
•Ability to push and pull carts and equipment
•Ability to bend, squat and lift up to 75 pounds regularly
•Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility
•Ability to multi-task
•An aptitude for self-motivation
•A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach
•A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel
