Job Summary

Facilitates and performs duties to maintain grounds, building and building equipment, including all aspects of operating systems.

Job Duties

  • Maintain operating systems and facility
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, order items as necessary in daily operations and acquire non-inventory items
  • Report defective equipment and recommend the replacement of obsolete or damaged equipment when estimates of repair cost are excessive
  • Lead the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, gas, air and water installations along with sewers, fire sprinklers and alarm systems
  • Work with outside contractors/vendors on building construction
  • Plan, layout and assign work, often including the diagnosis and remedy of difficult problems
  • Expedite building and equipment repairs in construction to avoid production delays
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately, including monitoring preventive maintenance program and updating documentation accordingly as necessary
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Perform work under minimal supervision
  • Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Possess comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter, which includes applications, mechanics, electricity and plumbing
  • Typically require accreditation from a technical school or applicable skilled trades program preferred; at least 3 years of experience, including experience driving powered industrial equipment
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
  • Powered industrial equipment certification preferred

  • Ability to interpret work instructions, including sketches, blueprints, electrical schematics, manuals and other reference materials

  • Ability to use personal and mainframe (EMS) computer programs, including preventive maintenance program
