Accountant – Corporate Staff Accountant

Meyer Jabara is a privately held company operating hotels in major United States markets. The company has been in business for over 45 years and currently manages 32 hotels and one Marina and continues to expand its portfolio.


Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Corporate Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the quality and standards of the General Ledger, ensure the reconciliation and proper handling of all records, as well as supporting the Vice President of Finance and other Accounting employees in general accounting duties; including but not limited to:

  • Spend time in one or two Meyer Jabara (MJ) hotels learning the hospitality business and The Journey (MJ’s Culture Program);
  • Learn and manage the General Ledger for multiple entities;
  • Prepare Bank Account reconciliations for multiple entities and resolve issues;
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations for multiple entities and resolve issues;
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end close processes with the property;
  • Interaction and coordination with internal employees (corporate and field) to resolve issues;
  • Learning the daily revenue process of hotels with different brands;
  • Understanding of Accrual Accounting and the life cycle of a transaction;
  • Perform special projects and analysis as requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting;
  • Hotel property experience preferred but not required;
  • Excellent analytical skill with high volume accuracy;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and closing dates;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities;
  • Excellent Excel abilities, Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, locally as well as globally;
  • Individual requires aptitude to learn quickly with hands-on training and executive guidance.
